About Boddington

Nestled on the banks of the Hotham River is the township of Boddington 123 kilometres South East of Perth with its strong sense of community, outstanding natural attractions in terms of the river, valley and hills and is close to Perth (1.5 hours drive), Mandurah (1 hour drive) and tourism attractions in the Peel region.

The Boddington Shire boasts rural living at its best with essential services close at hand. With many walking trails and changing scenic views throughout the year, Boddington is a peaceful haven to those that live there.

At the 2011 Census Boddington had a population of 2226 residents and has a large number of young families. It is a family friendly town with various picnic parks located throughout town, a seasonal public swimming pool and a large choice of sporting clubs with good quality facilities available to enjoy. Many residents of Boddington continually offer their services to one of the many volunteer programmes on offer in the region.

In recent years Boddington has been chosen by the State Government as a Super Town and Sub Regional Centre as defined by WAPC as a regional hot spot. The Boddington Super Town Growth Plan was prepared with funding from Royalties for Regions, through the Regional Centres Development Plan (SuperTown) Framework, to establish a vision to guide community population expansion and sustainable growth and to plan and prepare for what is predicted to be a doubling of the State’s population over the next 40 year.

Boddington was chosen by the State Government on the basis that it has the potential to play a pivotal role in decentralising the forecast population growth for the State.
